    Engineering Notes

Twelve inches of rear width gives this Camaro most of its visual attitude. Moving from 18×8 at the front to 18×12 at the rear creates genuine depth through the wheel package itself, rather than relying on oversized diameter or exaggerated spoke curvature.

ET6 keeps the front comparatively restrained, while ET25 works with the wider rear barrel to establish a noticeably fuller rear section. That front-to-rear difference suits the Camaro's long hood and muscular quarter panels far better than four wheels sharing the same visual depth.

Five broad spokes preserve the simplicity expected from a classic American performance wheel. Brushed silver keeps their machining visible, while the darker barrel pushes the center forward visually. Carbon-fiber treatment around the lip adds a modern material contrast without taking over the five-spoke form.

Two-piece construction matters here because width, face position and outer depth can be developed independently. That flexibility allows the rear wheel to carry much more volume while both axles still read as one coherent design.

Every finished wheel goes through checks focused on dimensions, assembly and rotational Every finished wheel is checked against the approved engineering data before shipment.

    • CMM dimensional inspection for PCD, center bore and offset
    • Torque-controlled hardware assembly for the 2-piece structure
    • Sealing and pressure testing after assembly
    • Dynamic balancing performed on every completed wheel
    • Load rating verified at 850 kg per wheel

These checks help confirm that the final dimensions, assembly and rotational performance match the specifications established for the project.

    Result

Rear depth becomes the defining feature without making the 18-inch diameter feel oversized for the body. Silver, black and carbon detailing introduce contemporary materials, yet the basic five-spoke proportion keeps the wheel connected to the character of the Camaro.

    Build Overview

This wheel setup was shaped around one clear goal: give the 1977 Chevrolet Camaro a wider, more purposeful stance without losing the visual language of a classic American muscle car.

An 18-inch diameter keeps the wheel-to-body proportions restrained, while the five-spoke center references the straightforward performance styling associated with period muscle cars. Brushed silver adds definition to each spoke, and the darker barrel draws more attention to the depth of the wheel rather than simply making the overall diameter appear larger.

The staggered configuration adds another layer to the build. Front and rear wheels perform different visual and fitment roles, so using identical dimensions at all four corners would have limited the result.

    Staggered Fitment Strategy

    18×8 Front – ET6

The narrower front specification keeps the wheel face well proportioned against the Camaro's front fenders. ET6 also supports the desired outward stance while leaving room to account for steering, suspension and brake clearance during engineering.

Rather than chasing maximum width at the front, the setup keeps the nose visually lighter and lets the rear fitment create the stronger statement.

    18×12 Rear – ET25

A 12-inch-wide rear wheel gives this build its distinctive deep-dish profile. Combined with ET25, the wider barrel creates more visual depth behind the forged center and reinforces the Camaro's naturally powerful rear proportions.

That difference between front and rear is intentional. Viewed from the side or rear three-quarter angle, the car gains a more planted appearance without relying on an excessive wheel diameter.

    Made Around the Actual Car

Classic Camaros rarely remain completely factory-standard. Lowered suspension, brake conversions, rear axle changes and modified fenders can all affect available wheel space.

For that reason, Xingtu does not treat this 18×8 and 18×12 combination as a universal second-generation Camaro fitment. Vehicle measurements and modification details are checked before final dimensions are confirmed.

Diameter, width, offset, center bore and dish depth can all be adjusted when another Camaro requires a different stance or clearance profile.

    Finish Combination

Brushed silver gives the forged five-spoke center a cleaner metallic character and keeps the spoke edges visible under changing light. Gloss black on the barrel adds depth around the center and makes the wide rear profile more pronounced.

Carbon-fiber lip detailing introduces a motorsport-inspired element without turning the wheel into an overly modern design. Together, the three surfaces create stronger visual contrast while keeping the five-spoke center recognizable as the dominant feature.

  • FAQs
    xiajiantou

    1. What wheel sizes are used on this 1977 Chevrolet Camaro?

This Camaro uses 18×8 forged wheels at the front and 18×12 at the rear. The staggered sizing keeps the front visually balanced while creating a wider and deeper rear profile.

    2. Why was a staggered setup chosen for this Camaro?

Different front and rear widths allow each axle to use proportions that better suit the vehicle. The narrower front avoids unnecessary bulk, while the wider rear creates the deep-dish stance that defines the overall look.

    3. What bolt pattern and center bore are used?

This wheel setup uses a 5×120.65 PCD and a 70.3 mm center bore. Measurements should still be confirmed when another classic Camaro has modified hubs, axles or suspension components.

    4. Will the same 18×8 and 18×12 sizes fit every second-generation Camaro?

Not necessarily. Brake upgrades, suspension changes, axle swaps, ride height and body modifications can all affect available clearance. Xingtu confirms the individual vehicle setup before machining.

    5. Can Xingtu change the offset for another Camaro build?

Yes. Offset, width, diameter, center bore and dish depth can be adjusted around the vehicle measurements and the stance required for the project.

    6. Can I order this wheel with different finishes?

Yes. Center and barrel finishes can be changed to suit the vehicle. Brushed, polished, painted and other available surface treatments can be combined depending on the selected wheel design.

    7. Can these wheels accommodate upgraded brake systems?

Brake clearance can be considered during the engineering stage. Supplying caliper dimensions or brake specifications before production helps Xingtu develop the wheel profile around the actual brake package.

    8. Is the carbon-fiber lip part of the wheel's load-bearing structure?

No. The carbon-fiber treatment provides visual detail, while the primary structural load remains supported by the forged aluminum components.
